Summer Camps

Summer Camp Information: Students exiting 5th grade through exiting 8th grade by May 2019 are welcome to participate. Space is limited to the first 25 students to register for each camp. Students may only participate in one camp*. Most summer camps will be held at the STEM Learning Lab in the Forman Engineering Building, Room 213 on the NMSU Campus. Details about locations will be sent with acceptance letters.

Lunch: We are thrilled to provide a FREE lunch for all participants. Lunch will be available between 11:45 am – 12:45 pm to accommodate both outgoing morning students and incoming afternoon students.

WeDo Robotics

June 3-7, 2019

Join WeDo Robotics camp to be a part of the robotics revolution! This camp will be crawling with the robots that you build. You will be using LEGO WeDo robots. Once you build the robots, you will compete in challenges and solve problems!

Limit: 25 students

Mindstorm Robotics

Camp is Full

June 3-7, 2019

Join Mindstorm Robotics camp to be a part of the robotics revolution! This camp will be crawling with the robots that you build. You will be using LEGO Mindstorms robots. Once you build the robots, you will compete in challenges and solve problems!

Join Math Camp to explore math ideas through fun, hands-on activities. There is no homework and no stress. Meet new friends and play interesting math games that help you really make sense of math and get a head start on 6th grade math.

CSI: Summer Camp

June 24-28, 2019

Join this camp to become a Cool Science Investigator as you dive into the world of forensic science and mystery solving. Start the week in Detective Academy and prove you have what it takes to be a CSI! Finish the week by solving you first case using all your new CSI skills!

Drone Engineering

Join this camp to hone your skills as an advanced pilot and engineer!  We will learn more about the science behind flying while building and flying a full-scale camera drone. All campers will build their own drone and take it home at the end of the week.

Cost: $100 (to help cover the cost of the drone kit). Limited scholarships are available

Space and Robotics with Fidel the Space Dog

How does STEM combine with reading? Students will investigate what it takes to make it to space by following along on the adventures of Fidel, Sufi, Euclid, and Iso in “Fidel the Space Dog” as they try to escape from their world.  As students read about the character’s escapades, they will participate in activities to help the characters on a future space mission by using teamwork, problem-solving and engineering skills, and creativity to make rockets, secret messages, and discover the challenges of space travel.

Learning Games Lab Think Tank Sessions

This year, youth entering grades 6, 7, and 8 can choose one of three different week-long, morning sessions to learn about game and app design, and participate in development of media. Students entering high school can sign up for a week long afternoon session on the same concept.
