Dr. Wiburg & the Math Snacks team was selected by AERA as a premier project to represent them at the Coalition for National Science Foundation Expo. The visit to Washington D.C. was very worthwhile.
Below is an update on the visit:
On Wednesday morning we attended Senator Udall’s breakfast and returned later to have a meeting with his staff. In the afternoon we were able to visit with Senator Heinrich’s staff and Representative Pearce’s office. We were fortunate enough to speak with each of the legislators and we introduced each of them to the Math Snacks project and the development and research efforts taking place at NMSU. We encouraged all of them to continue to support STEM education by funding NSF research and development.
In the evening we were part of the CNSFEXPO15. During this event, Math Snacks, along with 34 sponsored projects were highlighted for the legislators and their staff members. We met Dr. Frances Cordova, the director of NSF, and Dr. Felice Levine, the executive director of AERA, hosted us for a wonderful dinner.
We made some wonderful connections with all three legislative offices, NSF and AERA.
I am attaching a few pictures of the EXPO. We also took a picture with Senator Udall, but those take a few weeks to process.
